HURRY! HURRY! HURRY!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, step right up!   Step right up!   The greatest show on earth is coming to Llano.   Greatest Lawn and Garden show, that is.

On Saturday, March 8, 2008, a vast assemblage of lawn and garden experts and vendors will congregate for your entertainment and edification under the American Legion Hall big top in Llano.   Brought to you from the Four Corners of the Earth by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Llano County and the Llano Master Gardener Association.   No expense has been spared in bringing together for your pleasure speakers and vendors from far-off climes and mysterious locals such as Oxford, Tow, Burnet, and Rio Llano.

On this day a colossal congress of gardening gurus will take center ring and amaze and mystify you with phenomenal feats of gardening knowledge.

9:15 to 10:00am; John Caballero, owner of Apple Valley Orchard, will enlighten you as to the various elements that must be juggled in order to produce apples in the Texas Hill Country.

10:30 to 11:00 am; Bill Luedecke, Master Gardener, Author, and Journalist will rain on no one’s parade but rather will demonstrate rainwater collection and “what to do now in your garden”.

11:15-11:45 am; Timi DeBusk, Master Gardener, Master Naturalist and owner of TLC Nursery will bring her magical manner to the subjects of herbs and container gardening.

12:15pm to 12:30 pm; Roy Petty, Master Gardener and Master Chef, with flashing knives and fiery ferocity, will demonstrate the use of herbs in cooking.

The midway opens at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 12:30 p.m. and the price of admission is your appearance (no entrance fee). With stupendous speakers, dazzling door prizes, herculean herbs for sale and veracious vendors, the Llano Lawn and Garden show has something for everyone.   So don’t clown around and miss this momentous moment, this extraordinary exposition, this prodigious production; the Llano Lawn and Garden Show.

Come grow with us!

A STICKY SITUATION

Let me get right to the point.   Are you stuck on cactus or is it just one more prickly problem in your life?   Either way, the Llano Master Gardeners Association would like to sharpen your viewpoint on succulent plants and so it is inviting the public to attend its next monthly meeting at the Llano County AgriLife Extension Office on Highway 71 Thursday, February 21 at 5:30 p.m.

The guest speaker at this meeting will be Linda O’Nan, owner of The Green Gardener; a landscape design and maintenance business offering planning and planting personalized to your home or business.   Linda will demonstrate how to construct a succulent wreath.   Spineless, of course!   Additionally, as a long time Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, Linda has a wealth of knowledge in the area of succulents/cactus which she will share with us through questions and answers.   Be ready to see if you can stick her with some tough ones.   At the conclusion of the program, Linda will auction off her demonstration wreath to benefit the Llano Master Gardener Association.

The meeting is open to all and refreshments will be served.   A speaker, food and a chance to hone your gardening/decorating skills.   Now that’s a sharp deal!   The point of all this is: come grow with us!
