Board Meeting Minutes

May 2006

Llano Master Gardeners Board Meeting
Tuesday, May 16, 2006; 12:30 p.m.
Acme Café, Llano
5 members and Todd Swift

Sandy Shaw, president, immediately opened the meeting with the agenda for the next two months.   In May, Lee Winkler would be speaking to the group at 5:30 on Landscaping with Native Plants.   On June 15, Linda Onan will host the group in her yard and present a program on Water Gardens.   Due to the lack of parking around Linda Onan’s house, it was decided to carpool.   Meeting at the American Legion parking lot was suggested.   The host would provide coffee.

The agenda then moved to providing refreshments for the meetings.   It was suggested that we make an alphabetized list of the members and assign each a month to be responsible.   The group felt that was a workable and fair suggestion.   Lillie Baker will make the list and present it to the group.   Lillie Baker will provide refreshments for the July meeting.

It was suggested the LMG have a t-shirt.   Some of the surrounding county clubs have t-shirts and it was felt that matching t-shirts would identify us as part of the organization and give recognition to the organization when we were working at events.

On October 21, the Chuckwagon Cookoff and Heritage Day Festival is scheduled in Llano.   The LMG will have a booth on the square and sell something.   That will be decided at the general meeting.

The new class will be graduating on May 25.   It was felt it was important to get them to attend our meetings and become a part of LMGers.   There are 11 members from Llano County, however, some live closer to Burnet and, understandably, may decide to participate there instead of Llano.   The discussion turned to projects available for the new members to do to get their community service hours.   Old Red Top, the old jail, and the History Museum were named as locations needing attention.   The planters around the square and the statues at the corner of the courthouse lawn were mentioned, but the group was informed that someone had received a contract from Main Street Project to take care of those plants, making them not available.

Respectfully submitted by;

Lillie Baker, Secretary
