Llano Master Gardeners Board Meeting
Tuesday, April 17, 2007; 11:30 a.m
Berry Street Bakery, Llano

The Llano Master Gardeners board meeting was held at the Berry Street Bakery at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17. After waiting for the other board members to arrive, it was decided they were either not coming or would be late, so each person placed her order.
Sandy Shaw, president, told the members that there were some members who felt there was not a need for refreshments due to the hour of the meeting. She also said the group would try meeting at 6:00 p.m. instead of 5:30 p.m. Sandy also told the group Barbara Wright from Briggs would be the presenter at the next meeting.
Some time was spent discussing the Llano Lawn and Garden Show. Some of the venders did not do as well as the previous year but others did exceptionally well. The presenters were evaluated as to interest to the group, enthusiasm, and content. The size of the crowd did not grow much, if any, from the previous year nor did the income to the LMGers.
The board discussed the progress of the new Master Gardeners class. Everyone was excited with the quality of the speakers, the willingness of members to provide refreshments and intelligent questions of the students. There was some trepidation by some members going into forming the first class in Llano county, but it seems the venture is very successful.
Discussion of the class lead to the concern of some students about getting their community service volunteer hours. The board members began a list of projects that the students could work on to earn these hours. The list included updating the purple pamphlet (handout) about Llano Master Gardeners, updating the application for the class, the flowerbed at the Llano Library, “Old Red Top” jail, the memorials that look like tombstones on the courthouse square, the courthouse annex (old library), the Pocket Park be the time keeper or publish the newsletter.
The meeting adjourned at 1:00 after each member paid for her own lunch.
Respectfully submitted by;
Lillie Baker, Secretary
