Seven members and one guest met at 10:00 a.m. in Cherokee on April 27 to tour Barker Nursery.
Vicky Barker met the members as they arrived and visited about some of the plants. After the arrival of all the members, she talked about each of the different plants she had in her nursery, stating the strengths, weaknesses, the light requirements, height they grow and other information important to developing a landscape. She explained how Society Garlic is often used as an attractive border. She talked about which plants attracted butterflies or hummingbirds.
After the tour which lasted about an hour, she presented each person with a potted Aloe Vera plant. Everyone expressed their appreciation for her time and knowledge. Some of the members remained and purchased plants after the meeting was adjourned.
