Stonebridge Gardens
Sylvia McCasland Williams
Highland Lakes Master Gardener

Sylvia and Steve Williams
Sylvia Williams' dream was to have a garden that would be beautiful, attract birds and butterflies and use native plantings. In time, with the right conditions, the garden would be virtually maintenance free. The garden was begun in 1999, clearing the old pasture of mesquites and plowing.   The 'bones' of the garden began the project, using large specimens as a screen and windbreak, laying pathways of stone and gravel and building the greenhouse and arbors.

Many features, 'mini gardens' and structures have been added to the garden over the past eight years, each with its unique flavor and yet remaining part of the whole. The combinations of plants is the true delight, every area is carefully considered and implemented to feel spontaneous and natural.   Unusual varieties of plants are on display to help us 'break out of the box', looking for just the right plant to suit our taste and adapt to any condition.

The Potting Shed
The Potting Shed is a masterpiece in and of itself. From the antique weathervane to the furnishings, every element was planned to make a new structure appear to be permanent, venerable and cared for. It has attracted world-wide acclaim and awards and will continue to do so, with Sylvia's care.
