Wildseed Farms

Wildseed Farms was begun by John and Marilyn Thomas in 1983 and in 1997 moved to Fredericksberg, TX. It's the largest working wildflower farm in the U.S.. The variety of activities, shopping and facilities, as well as the wildflower farm, makes it a trip we won't soon forget.
Our trip began with a tour of the acres of fields in production, a look at some of the harvesting equipment, drying sheds and the packing and shipping center. One of the more interesting features was the seed-cleaning machine developed by Thomas. When the farm began, there were no seed-cleaning machines specifically for wildflower seeds, some of which were quite different from cultivated flowers.

The Market Center, Bierbonnet Garten, Butterfly Haus, Nursery and Pottery are some of the features of Wildseed Farms. A walking trail through the Meadows, a display garden and trial plots, completes this comprehensive facility. Many of us went home with lots and lots of pots of our soon-to-be favorite plants.
